Street Photography in Jerusalem
Jerusalem is located in the Middle East and is one of the world’s oldest and most culturally significant cities. It is home to a rich history and culture that provides many subjects for exploration and photography. Below are some pictures I took of Jerusalem during a 2013 conference trip. And some tips for shooting street photography in Jerusalem.
The Old City of Jerusalem
The Old City of Jerusalem is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a particularly photogenic area, with narrow streets, ancient architecture, and colourful markets providing many opportunities for street photography. Other city landmarks, such as the Western Wall and the Dome of the Rock, offer many subjects for striking street photos.
Beyond the Old City, there are many other neighbourhoods and areas to explore, such as the modern city centre, which features a mix of modern and traditional architecture. In particular, the Mahane Yehuda market—a bustling and colourful place that provides many opportunities for street photography.
Jerusalem is also a city of contrasts, with a mix of Jewish, Muslim, and Christian communities providing many interesting cultural and religious events and ceremonies to photograph throughout the year.
